“Our journeys create small paradigm shifts —
new ways of seeing the familiar.”
私たちの旅は、小さなパラダイムシフトを生む。 見慣れたものを新しい視点で見るために。
About NOTA
NOTA is an artist duo formed by Nori and Tama, Japanese artists who met in the UK. We document our visits to various regions across Japan, sharing locally rooted content in diary form.
Nori
Based in Kyoto, she keeps a diary of places encountered and thoughts that arise along the way.
Having lived abroad, she tends to observe Japanese landscapes and culture from a gently distanced point of view. Reading and collecting thoughts on small notes is part of her daily routine.
Tama
Based in Tokyo. Drawn to remote islands and nature. Through my experience of living abroad, I rediscovered the qualities of Japan in daily life. With an interest in folk craft and architecture, I write in my journal about moments that resonate with me aesthetically. I travel while wandering in search of places yet unexplored.

When I came back to Japan from the UK, where I had spent seven years, I was surprised by how beautiful Japan is—its atmosphere, culture, religion, craftsmanship, and architecture.
Even though I was born in Japan, I rediscovered the country anew.
Exploring through mythological and anthropological perspectives is one of our features.
The beauty of the sublime already exists around us, but it is difficult to realize because it appears ordinary.
I hope our journal touches your heart.
